The wining product for Innovative Product Award 2004 is the highly integrated SoC for Multi-function Printer with 4800dpi super high photo image quality, which is a VLSI with millions of gates and provides total solutions to customers. The product provides high-resolution image scanning and high quality print output. The innovative flexible architecture supports most of the scanner sensors and ink jet heads in the world, and provides very high performance processing speed. The design has been optimized for quality, efficiency, functions and cost. Stand-alone high-resolution local copy is the standard process while the PC can be free for other jobs or disconnected. Full sets of firmware platform and driver tools come with the product. Color management and image processing software and hardware system are developed by Sunplus. It's the first commercial MFP SoC total solution in Taiwan.
Sunplus also receives the R&D Accomplishment Award 2004 from Hsinchu Science Park. There are more than 70% of Sunplus employees in R&D divisions, and 63% of employees have Master degree and above. Sunplus keep investing in R&D, as the R&D expenses of 2003 totaled NT$1.5billions and 14% of the net sales. The patents granted from Taiwan IPO to Sunplus are increasing and pending patents in 2003 increased 700% compared with last year.
Meanwhile, Sunplus is the 1st Taiwan company who defined
and introduced S+CoreR, the Embedded 32-bit RISC processor
which has been silicon-proved. Sunplus has licensed it some
leading R&D institutes in Taiwan, and it will be opened
to the IC industry to develop innovative and cost-effective
products.
