Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan, April 29th, 2009 - Sunplus Technology Co., Ltd. (TAIEX: 2401, LSE: SUPD) today announced that Mr. Wen-Kuan Chen has been promoted from Vice President of IC Design Center of Sunplus Home Entertainment Business Unit to Executive Vice President of Sunplus Home Entertainment Business Unit. He will assist CEO to develop the long-term strategic plan and report to CEO directly.

Mr. Wen-Kuan Chen got his bachelor in Electronics Engineering from the National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan. He jointed Sunplus in 1998 after working in Industry Technology Research Institute and Macronix during 1989~1998. At that time Mr. Chen joined Sunplus, the company just entered the MPEG decoding technology. Because of Mr. Chen's R&D efforts, Sunplus has developed wide range of IC solutions for home entertainment applications and been the leader in the audio and video technology. In his 11 years at Sunplus, Mr. Chen started with an IC Design Engineer to Manager, Director and then Vice President in R&D team of Sunplus that he is well-experienced and capable in IC design industry.

The new assignment of Mr. Wen-Kuan Chen will be effective on May 1st, 2009.
