Sunplus Announces 3Q02 Financial Result
Science-Based Industrial Park, Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C. October 25, 2002 - Sunplus Technology Co., Ltd. (TSE: 2401, LSE: SUPD) today announced its recently financial results for the nine Months ended September 30, 2002. The net sales were NT$6,493 million, which grew 30.8% compared to the same period last year. Due to price competition, the gross margin declined to 38.3%, which was 41.3% for the same period of 2001. The net income from operations added up to NT$ 1,516 million. The R&D expenses were 11.9% of the sales revenue and same period of last year was 9.5%. The increase is caused by more new product developments. The net income amount to NT$1,688 million, with increased non-operating income such as about NT$38 million foreign exchange gain and NT$72 million gain on the dispose of investments in the third quarter of 2002.
