The wining product for Innovation Product Award is SPCA536, the 16 Mega-pixel DSC Controller SoC with MPEG-4 DV Function. It's a SoC solution for up to 16 mega-pixel resolution digital still camera (DSC) and up to 100 thousand pixel MPEG-4 video capturing capability at 30 frames per second. It is the first commercial DSC solution with MPEG-4 feature from Taiwan. The highly integrated SoC solution equipped with not only JPEG and MPEG-4 codec capability, but also a complete development environment for customers' to design and differentiate their products and meet the time-to-market requirement.
Sunplus also receives on of the best R&D performers in Science Park 2003. The R&D expenses for the first 3 quarters of 2003 is NT$1.1 billions which is 15% of the net sales, and around 50% growth year on year. And 2002 were 12.2% of the net sales, which grew 58% comparing to 2001. The total employees grew 27% but the R&D team members grew 36% year on year in 2002. The patents granted from Taiwan IPO to Sunplus in 2002 increased 130%.
